About myBroadSheet (A letter to the community)
RSS news
reading has, to date, revolved around the metaphor of
email. Opening Feeds like mail folders, item lists, marking
items as read and flagging items have been, and will continue to
be, necessary and important mechanisms for power users who want to ‘consume’ large amounts of information.
myBroadSheet is a different solution for a different
type of person. It can broadly be
described as an RSS news reader for the mainstream. A
mainstream who don't necessarily want to consume
news, but rather experience it in a news reading
metaphor their used to.
myBroadSheet is designed for people on the train with
their TabletPC (not exclusively – but you get the
idea!). It uses a set of visualizations - a newspaper
layout for example - that provide an elegant and intuitive
news reading and inline media experience so that you can
enjoy your news like you would a well designed magazine filled with articles you care about.
Think
NewsMap, but instead of
color coded boxes, a number of intuitive news reading
visualizations. Instead
of mainstream Google news, imagine a user's own RSS
feeds (proccessed by
Touchstone).
Imagine a layout that determines the size and
placement of news based on the buzz on the blog-o-sphere.
Imagine inline images from Flickr and links to related
blog posts from across the web.
Simple and
stylish. Just like a magazine or
newspaper.
For the general user, simply browse the default setup or
customize the news by setting up your own sections made
from one or more RSS feeds (no signup required!). If you
want your BroadSheet accessible from any internet
connected device, simply signup for a free account.
For
designers, myBroadSheet is an opportunity to
create new ways to experience news.
For
developers and content publishers, myBroadSheet is an
opportunity to add a new way for people to experience
your product or content. Integrate a myBroadSheet
visualization into your application.
